He'll outparty you, steal your girlfriend, do your trick for warmup and then get the trick he came for before you even know what hit you. I've watched Shane skate for a long time now and I'm really stoked to be able to film him. He kills everything you put in front of him. Kid was on a serious tear last season claiming bangers and then taking care of business. He goes big, has a deep bag of tricks, the dopest style and isn't afraid to steal your last beer while you take a leak! Here's his part - chomp chomp bitches!

I've known Mitch forever, he's like my brother at this point. I feel like everytime I write about him I end up kissing his ass way too hard, so I'm just gonna let his skating do the talking. I will tell a little story about Mitch that makes me smile. One time we had plans to go filming but I couldn't make it because my mom was finishing her garden in her backyard. There was truckloads of gravel to haul from the driveway into the back. Mitch really wanted to film, but instead volunteered his help for the afternoon. Must've moved about 30 wheelbarrows full over 3-4 hours. It's little things like that, that make Mitch a great person off his skateboard as well. Thanks for being my friend Mitch - it's been a pleasure watching you grow into the man you are today. Thanks for being patient with me when I screw up filming a clip here and there, it makes me feel like less of a retard. Anyways - here's his part from Something Legit

I first heard of Jo from my good friend Nathan Bartlett. Jo moved here from Abbotsford, BC with his girlfriend a couple years ago and Edmonton has had the pleasure of watching him skate since then. I'm really stoked that I got a chance to go filming with Jo and give him a part in my video. He has the highest standards for himself and I can honestly say that he was never satisfied with anything he got. He always thought that he could do it cleaner, down a bigger set, or some other variation into or out of a ledge. I can't wait to see what his creative mind comes up with in the future - Jo always blows my mind with his talent. Kurt came on board to film this part late and really came through. Having filmed and dropped two video parts the previous year, Kurt knew what it was gonna take to get a part together. One of the nicest people I've ever met, Kurt is a dope dude who skates just about anything you put in front of him. Smooth style, big bag o' tricks, and mad love for anything Altamont and Emerica, Kurt rips! Simple as that. Thanks to Cayden for filming most of this and for a lot of help with figuring out edits, titles, premieres, posters and such - Cayden literally saved the video from sucking more than it did. I owe ya bud!

Two rad dudes from different neck of the woods. Both share a love of skating and a love of hip hop. From Fort McMurray and spending some time in Vancouver lately, I've never met Heshy, but he emailed me earlier in the year to say that he wasn't going to be making a video this year and had a bunch of footy if I was down to have him in Something Legit. I've been following him on youtube for a few years watching classics such as hot whips and picture perfect. Check those out if you haven't already. Chappy is from Saskatoon and we've been homies for 4-5 years now. Always down for anything, and such a funny dude to be around - it seemed like a good fit to put these two together and I think their part turned out pretty sick.

Nathan is currently battling another slipped disc in his back which is causing him a major amount of pain and a severe loss of sleep. It's far worse than any of you can imagine, and he is unable to sit still for longer than 5 minutes, let alone ride a skateboard. I really hope that this heals quickly and Nathan can get back to being pain free, as no one I know deserves it more! Best flatground in Edmonton. CLAIM! Duane has one of my favorite styles to watch, and I wish that I had been able to spend more time filming and partying with him this summer. One of the funniest dudes I've ever met, he seemed to kill himself all summer trying to get some tricks for the video, and while he has gotten some bangers for Something Legit, I'm really excited to see what he comes up with next year - he's never satisfied with his footage. He's definitely one of the next skaters in Edmonton to explode, keep your eyes peeled for him in the future.

The most energetic dude in the group - Jo has a way to make the most trivial matters in life the most entertaining. You could be at McDonald's ordering food when he awkwardly asks the cashier what to order, then tells them they're stupid for thinking he would want that. Or driving down the road having random people tell you your tire is about to fall off. Or maybe he'll just bust into a ridiculous dance in the middle of the shopping mall food court for no apparent reason. People always throw out the "that was random" saying with their friends, but with Jo I've come to expect the unexpected. Everytime I hang with him I always leave the day in a better frame of mind than when I started. His great sense of humor cracks me up all the time. As far as the skateboarding goes.....Jobin constantly blows my mind with his trick selection and consistency. Here's a little throwaway - Keep on the lookout for the real thing. I first met Nathan 5 years ago when he came down to Edmonton from the bustling metropolis of Athabasca. He soon made the move to the city and was sponsored by the same shop that I was. He grows the gnarliest beard and sometimes people wonder if he's homeless due to his rugged appearance. He's actually the friendliest person ever and on top of his skills on a skateboard he also attends University full time. Nathan is one of the most determined people I've met, and he's bound to find success at anything he tries. Stoked to have met Nathan and proud to call him my friend. Meet Justin Vaux. One of the funniest, most charismatic people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I met him when I worked at a skateshop in the small town of Leduc, and I've watched his skating progress so much over the last 2 years. Justin has one of those crazy, eccentric personalities, and most people seem to latch on to his great sense of humor. Never a dull moment with him around, especially if there's some females in the mix. Guy turns into an animal! Not gonna elaborate on that one too much, you do the math. I've known Shane since he was 14, at the park hustling kids for smokes. He's been a regular on road trips ever since and every time I film with him he gets some serious bangers. One of the most focused people I've ever filmed, Shane always seems to get what he wants. He is the most fearless of the crew - jumping down the biggest sets and gaps and always looking for a bigger rail to try. One of my favorite people to film with for sure he's got a great style and he's always positive and fun to be around. Here's an edit of him ripping the park in an hour before we hit the streets and he stockpiled more footy for his part.

We've been collecting footy for a minute or two and one of the skaters slated to have a full part in the video is Mitch Phillips. I've known this cat for almost 6 years now and am continually blown away by his talent on a board. Aside from that, the dude pretty much rules at life, working as an apprentice sheet metal worker and living for every moment. He just got back from the AM Getting Paid Contest in Montreal where he made the finals and placed 9th. He came up on some money in the best trick contest too, throwing down some gnarly bangers. Edmonton Skateboard Association Bottle Drive #2

We all got together again last Saturday for another bottle drive and everything went smoothly, raising just under $1100 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Everyone came together and worked their butts off to make this event go as smoothly as possible. A huge thanks to Iris, Stu, Jet, Stirling, Dustin, Matt, Jon, Travis, and Mitch for all the hard work planning this event and for driving - this wouldn't be possible without your efforts. Nathan Matthews

Today was the service for one of the finest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. "A Celebration of Nathan's Life" was held for friends and relatives and it was one more chance to remember Nathan, recall moments, and tell stories of adventures with him. Nathan genuinely cared for everyone he met, and always had a way of making time for everyone. It saddens me that I won't be able to skate with him, share a laugh with him, or see his artwork progress anymore. Although these moments won't be occuring again, I am very grateful that Nathan touched my life. All the stories and memories that people have posted of him ensure that he will live on forever in my thoughts. Nathan was, and is, an inspiration to us all - and his passing makes me think of all the great times that were shared. He had the most infectious smile, and I hope to see it again one day. Roll Forever Nate!

The other day Jo and I went to the University of Alberta to do some filming. After about 15 minutes of warming up Jo was getting pretty close to the first trick that he had wanted to film, when BAM! security showed up. We quickly gathered our belongings and fled the scene with the the Peace Officer in hot pursuit of us. He was close enough that we could hear him on his radio - "Yep, they're running......two males......need backup...." hahaha. Now I'm certain that Jo could have made the Canadian National Track Team as he was at a leisurely jog to allow me to catch up. Mind you, I was carrying a backpack and a camera in my hand, but as I caught up with him all he said was, "we need to run faster." The two of us made it to the street which I thought was off the property when another car aka "backup" pulled in. They accused us of stealing from the building, because otherwise we "wouldn't be running" according to them. After a thorough search of my bag they were certain that nothing had been stolen and after a brief search in their records it came up that I had skateboarded there before. $287 ticket for "trespassing" - thank you very much U of A. Unbelievably stoked! I'll be posting Josiah's warmup tricks later this evening as well as a few other vids that I've been procrastinating on. If you don't see a video update this evening....punch me in the balls. That's all for now folks

Winter is still upon us
